Searching Shape Data |

Once you have expanded the Shapes node of a page, then all of the custom properties of all of the shapes within that page become available for searching using the Search / Filter panel. You can search the document for any shape with a particular shape data property name, optionally filtered by page, shape name or shape data value.
For example, in the example Visio drawing of network equipment, each network equipment shape has shape data property named Location.
You can select this property, and select or enter a value.
You can then select a match method, for example Equals.
You then press the Search button and the results are displayed in the Results panel below it.
If you select a row in the Results or Listings panel, then that shape will be selected in the Visio Viewer panel, and simultaneously in the Document Explorer and Listing panels. The Listings panel displays a tick in the first column (and True in the Matched column), for all items that are found by the Search function.
The Filter button will filter the Listings panel to the matching items.
The Listing may not look very pretty because it display all shape data columns by default. You can change this by selecting Display the shape's (used) properties Only on the right mouse menu, or by manually selecting their visibility in the Properties Display panel.
The Results panel will now look much easier to read, and you can change the width of individual columns, or even re-order them by drag and drop.
The Listings panel can be used for navigation, analysis or exporting to another application via the clipboard.
